In a remote village of Makuutu in Ivukula sub county in Namutumba district where access to quality education is often interrupted by poverty, stigma, and lack of basic learning materials, Harriet and Amina stood at the edge of becoming another statistic – girls forced to drop out of school too early.
But everything changed the day they were identified through our community outreach program. With radiant smiles and determination in their eyes, these two girls were selected to receive a comprehensive school support package including scholastic materials, reusable sanitary pads, and mentorship support.
“We used to share books in class and sometimes stayed home during our periods. But now, we are confident and prepared,” says Amina.
Through our integrated approach combining access to education, menstrual hygiene management, and psychosocial support, Harriet and Amina have blossomed. They are now consistent in school attendance, fully participating in class, and dreaming big.
Harriet wants to become a nurse, inspired by the compassion she received from our director, a visiting health worker.
Amina aspires to be a teacher, determined to return and uplift girls from her own village.
Their journey is a powerful reminder that when we invest in girls, we transform communities.
What if every girl had this chance?
Let’s keep walking this journey with Harriet, with Amina, and for every girl yet to be reached.
